Art Domain

Cleric Subclass — Echoes of the Renaissance

Art is more than an inspirational calling to you: it is the search for the divine itself. By expressing your ideas, your thoughts, your imagination with all the colors in your mind, you find a divine calling in your heart. Your belief finds its way through your art. Your talents show your dedication, your art pieces prove your faith, and through you, whichever power, ideal or deity you believe in finds its voice and presence in the world.

Beauty of the Art

3rd-level Art Domain Feature

You gain proficiency with Painter's Supplies. You learn the Minor Illusion cantrip. It counts as a cleric cantrip for you and doesn't count against the number of cantrips you know.

Painted Veil

As a Bonus Action, you touch a willing creature within 5 feet of you and paint a divine pigment onto them, choosing one of the colors below. The veil lasts for 1 minute, until the creature drops to 0 hit points, or until you dismiss it (no action required). You can have a number of veils active simultaneously equal to your Wisdom modifier.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

  • Crimson. Once per turn when the veiled creature hits with an attack, it deals extra radiant damage equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  • Azure. The veiled creature gains temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier + your cleric level when the veil is applied, and has Advantage on Constitution saving throws for the duration.
  • Argent. The veiled creature's speed increases by 10 feet and it ignores difficult terrain for the duration.

Actions of the Wise

3rd-level Art Domain Feature

You gain proficiency in a Charisma skill of your choice. You can use Wisdom instead of Charisma for that skill, representing your mental fortitude and confidence in your divine cause.

Channel Divinity: Masterwork

3rd-level Art Domain Feature

As an action, you paint a divine scene onto reality itself. A 15-foot radius zone appears centered on a point you can see within 60 feet, lasting for 1 minute. The zone is immobile. Choose one of the following effects when you create it:

  • Sanctuary. Allies within the zone have half cover and Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
  • Dread. Each enemy that enters the zone for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be frightened of you until the end of its next turn.

Allure of the Art

6th-level Art Domain Feature

Your mastery of divine pigment has grown beyond arm's reach.

  • The range of your Painted Veil extends to 60 feet.
  • You can stack two different colors on the same creature. Applying a second color to a creature that already has a veil costs a separate use of Painted Veil.

Paint the Path

When you cast a cleric spell of 1st level or higher, you can originate the spell from any creature currently under one of your Painted Veils instead of from yourself. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Blessed by the Art

8th-level Art Domain Feature

Your artistic expression affects your battle prowess. When a creature takes damage from one of your cantrips or weapon attacks, you can also deal 1d8 radiant damage to that creature. Once you deal this damage, you can't use this feature again until the start of your next turn.

Arte Magnifica

17th-level Art Domain Feature

You unleash your magnum opus. As an action, you can activate this feature for 1 minute. For the duration:

  • All willing allies within 30 feet of you are automatically affected by all three Painted Veil colors simultaneously. These veils do not count against your Painted Veil limit and move with you.
  • You can apply Painted Veils as part of casting a cleric spell, without using a separate Bonus Action.
  • Your cleric spells that restore hit points restore the maximum possible amount.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest.

The Painted Veil in Play

The Painted Veil is the mechanical heart of the Art Domain. At 3rd level, choosing the right color for each ally before and during combat is the cleric's primary tactical decision. Crimson rewards martial allies who land frequent attacks. Azure protects fragile front-liners or concentration casters. Argent enables kiting, positioning, and chase scenarios.

At 6th level, Paint the Path transforms the cleric into a battlefield conductor — healing from behind a veiled ally deep in enemy lines, or originating Spirit Guardians from a front-line fighter. At 17th level, Arte Magnifica turns the entire party into a radiant masterpiece for one climactic minute.
